The
HD-1 is specifically designed to erase higher-coercivity media, such as DLT's (DLT I-IV). Additionally, the HD-1 effectively erases all metal media formats such as AIT, DLT I-IV, Beta SP, Beta SX, Digital Betacam, D1-D5, 3590, 3490 and more.For long-lasting performance, the degaussing coils are vacuum dipped and baked. The vacuum process draws the air out of the coil allowing the potting compound to coat each winding of the coil. The coil is then baked "rock hard" to eliminate vibrations that could eventually lead to shorts in the windings of the coil. In addition, two thermal detection units have been wound into eaach coil to ensure that the operationg te ;erture is safely maintained. When in operation, the coils are cooled by a fan that is automaticaaly turned on an doff by signals being sent from the thermal detection units.
